Known for its use of vintage lumber in the construction of its luxury homes, the John Bell Company embodies its founder’s passion for quality and authenticity in every project. Born of a desire to sustain John Bell’s use of reclaimed lumber from abandoned structures for custom flooring, cabinetry and trim for its discriminating clients, Allegheny WoodWorks began as an in-house supplier of antique lumber for the construction company. Soon they were producing more than was needed to meet internal demand, and in 2006, John Bell launched Allegheny WoodWorks as the premiere supplier of the finest quality reclaimed lumber in the eastern U.S.
Allegheny WoodWorks products do more than just serve as the building blocks for fine homes - they preserve the spirit of generations of mountaineers who settled the Appalachian frontier. And to market their products, they knew they must tell the story of these treasured remnants of a bygone era to an audience who appreciates the history and preservation, even in this digital age. That meant devising a logo that captures the essence and values of the brand, and a state-of-the-art website with full search engine optimization to capture only the most qualified leads.
Allegheny WoodWorks partnered with Bell Design Studio to develop an eye-catching logo that depicts the company’s Allegheny Mountain roots and its commitment to sustainability and quality lumber products. From this design grew a complete corporate identity package, including letterhead, envelopes and business card, each “color optimized” for efficient printing. The next stage - an easy-to-navigate website with a clean and simple design - embodied the company’s focus on quality products, showcasing numerous installations of their vintage lumber. Seeking high rankings in search engine results, BDS also developed a search engine optimization strategy to drive organic traffic to the site by focusing on keywords specific to Allegheny WoodWorks’ target market.
“Our bold logo effectively communicates our company values of quality, preservation, and conservation without relying on a cliché image like woodgrain or a woodworking tool of some sort,” said John Bell, IV, CEO of Allegheny WoodWorks. “What Erica has accomplished with the website layout and SEO strategy has been great. In the end, it all comes down to results: we’ve received a ton of leads, visits to the website and visitors filling out the contact info. form to request more information. Since the website is quite often the ‘first impression’ we get to make with our customers, we’ve been very pleased with the feedback we’ve received from the end user. Erica is one of the few creative people I’ve worked with who is also very organized and efficient. She was able to generate multiple concepts for the site that were difficult to choose from, because they were all so good. We were able to pick from the best of the best.”
