Case Studies Index

In 2007 a new public library opened in Lewisburg , West Virginia . A new logo was called for since the existing logo included a line drawing of the historic building that had previously housed the library.

The library trustees wanted an image that conveyed the unique nature of the imposing new structure that was designed to blend seamlessly into its setting in Lewisburg’s Historic District. Erica Bell zeroed in on a detail of the building’s front columns, Palladian windows and cupola to anchor the logo design. Working from a photograph, she manipulated the image so that the result looks simulates a line drawing.

Bell also designed a whimsical logo featuring an owl that can be used for materials related to the library’s children’s programming. The primary logo will be used for letterhead, note cards, website and other applications.

“Working with Erica on this project really showed us her talent,” Nalker said. “She saw things we hadn’t even seen.”
