Greenbrier Valley Quarterly showcases the many highlights of the region, including attractions, dining, shopping, outdoor recreation, and community events. Launched by J. Clay Baldwin to help put a positive face on West Virginia and celebrate the attributes we enjoy here, the magazine brims with exceptional full-color photography printed in state-of-the-art quality, while still preserving the historical, environmental, and social attributes that make the state a special place to both visit and live.

Launched in the summer of 2005 and now in its 16th edition, the magazine has grown in size, reach and scope. From the beginning, the publishers sought a progressive and fresh design, but one that remained highly readable and easy to navigate. Achieving this balance has been a challenge, but one that is crucial to the publication’s success.

Baldwin approached Erica Bell at Bell Design Studio to perform the ongoing layout and design work for the publication. With her vast and refined palate, Erica provided innovative approaches to building the magazine that sets it apart from others in the state with an entirely unique look and feel. Erica developed several pre-defined templates for regular quarterly departments to improve the efficiency of production and consistency of the publication from one issue to the next.

“While Erica’s aesthetic touch has remained consistent, we have grown together over the past four years,” Baldwin says. “You can see it in her design work, as well as in our approach to the publication. The magazine has been recognized in multiple media outlets, and we are constantly blessed with positive comments from our readers.”
